Filming RegulationsApproved Filming Hours
Weekdays: 7 AM TO 10 PM
Saturdays: 8 AM TO 10 PM
Sundays & City specified holidays: 9 AM - 10 PMExtended Hours Extended hours for filming activity are permitted with approval. The Production Company must submit forms with signatures of approval from one adult resident of at least 70% of the dwelling units located within a 300-yard radius of the filming activity, at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled start of the filming activity.

All vehicles and equipment associated with filming activities must park in posted spaces.
Signatures are required from business owners and residents whose property, may be blocked by production company equipment or vehicles, or otherwise impacted by production.
Signatures are required from 70% of residents for street closures in a residential area.
Completed signature forms must be submitted 48 hours prior to start of production.
"No Parking" signs must be posted 24 hours prior to start of production.
All posting is to be carried out by the Police Department at the expense of the Production Company. Download Filming and Posting Approval Form. Police, Fire & Other City Personnel
Police personnel must be present at all times during filming on public property.
Fire personnel must be present during filming, as required by the Culver City Fire Code.
The Production Company may be required to retain other City services, as deemed necessary by the Chief Administrative Officer, for the purpose of protecting, assisting, and regulating the filming activity.
Any required City personnel shall be retained at the sole cost and expense of the Production Company.
City Police or Fire Safety Officers have the authority to enforce all safety regulations, state laws and city ordinances. Where an unsafe situation is observed, the officer is authorized to stop film production until the situation is corrected. Insurance
The Production Company must maintain insurance coverage in a type and amount as determined by the City. The City of Culver City and its officials and representatives must be added as additional insureds.
If filming activity occurs on Culver City Redevelopment Agency property, the Redevelopment Agency and its officials and representative must be included as additional insureds.
When insurance expires, the Production Company must provide the Film Permit Coordinator will new copies of the insurance binder, Hold Harmless Agreement, and Special Endorsement.
The Production must submit an executed indemnification agreement at least 48 hours prior to the start of any filming activity.Download Hold Harmless Agreement.

Filming of aerial activities from the air or ground, including helicopter landings, is prohibited without prior written permission from the Culver City Chief Administrative Officer.
The Production Company is responsible for restoring to the Film Permit Coordinators satisfaction any damaged or disrupted area before leaving the film location.
The Production Company will clean the film location of trash and debris within 2 hours after the completion of filming activity or with such other time established by the Film Permit. Permit Revocation
The Film Permit Coordinator may revoke a Film Permit if:
The Production Company fails to comply with the conditions of the Permit;
The Production Company
fails to comply with the provisions of Culver City Municipal Code Chapter 11.14; or
The Production Company willfully falsifies the Film Permit Application.![]()

Basically, this [proposed NY City film permit ordinance] opens the door to unlimited police interactions with photographers and filmmakers, because under these proposed rules, if they were passed, basically everyone with a camera, including everyone with a cell phone, would be someone who might have to have a permit to do photography... with all the people out there with cameras, most people are going to be left alone. This is going to give the police license to stop people they want to stop for whatever reason they want. And you can imagine who the likely targets are of that sort of enforcement... People with dark skin, people who look suspicious in the eyes of the police... It's going to be the people who tend to be harassed by the police in other contexts. -- Christopher Dunn
